September 29th is Pumpkin Day (link to Pumpkin Day). It was Originated at Sally B. Elliott many years ago. This annual event is celebrated with lots of fun and food – especially the pumpkin recipes. Here's a recipe that you can try out on this Pumpkin Day or at Halloween (link to Halloween), which is close at the hand too. You can win over hearts of both kids and adults with this classic pumpkin recipe.

INGREDIENTS
Pumpkin Pure – 15 Ounce Can
Eggs – 3
Vegetable oil – 1 cup full
Sugar – 2 ｽ cups
Flour – 2 ｽ Cups
Salt -- 1/4 Teaspoon
Vanilla Extract – 1 Teaspoon
Walnuts (chopped) -- 1/2 cup
Ground nutmeg -- 1 Teaspoon
Ground allspice -- 1 Teaspoon
Ground cloves -- 1 Teaspoon
Ground cinnamon -- 1 Teaspoon

DIRECTION
Step 1: Preheat oven to 175o C. Grease one 10 inch tube pan.

Step 2: Cream beaten eggs, oil, pumpkin and vanilla all together.

Step 3: Sift the baking soda, nutmeg ground, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, sugar, salt and flour together and the mixture to the pumpkin mixture. Mix them thoroughly and pour it into the prepared tube pan.

Step 4: Bake at 175o C until it's baked well. Insert a toothpick in the middle and it should come out clean, if its baked well. Let it cool in the pan for half an hour and then turn it out onto a plate and sprinkle some confectioners' sugar over it to decorate.

Yes I know it's going to be dark and cold within a short spell of time. Halloween is approaching fast and the kids of my locality are probably ready with all spooky ideas of scaring people. Come on, I'm going to share with you some secret about me. I'm ready with my ideas too. Yes, I have purchased a typical Halloween costume that I'll be using on Halloween this year. $45 that dress cost me. My mom told me that I was mad, spending all that money on the wolfman Halloween costume that includes a shirt with fur, weird looking pant and a headpiece (Halloween mask). But I know that I'm worth every penny, as there's nothing better than this for scaring Mr. And Mrs. Richards – my immediate neighbor and other friends of mine out here.

US Halloween Celebration -- Insanely Huge

Halloween is really great in my nation -- US. And often it seems as if every house has become a haunted mansion, being adorned by the wide range of weird decors. The local Wal-Mart tends to be waved by people of all generations, buying the decor elements before Halloween. Special dishes, costumes and fireworks are the inseparable part of our celebration. Kids dress up as ghouls, zombies, ghosts, goblins and witches and knock at the neighbors' doors to gather sweets, nuts and fruits. The scenario is like this at least where I've grown up. Its really amazing!!

And your little goblin guests can also mix vanilla ice cream with pumpkin pie and line a cinnamon-graham crust to make it little more tasty.

YUMMY ! Here's how you can make your ice cream pumpkin pie, it serves 8.

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cups crushed cinnamon-sugar graham crackers
10 teaspoons butter -- melted
Canned pumpkin -- 1 cup
Vanilla ice cream -- 1 quart
Sugar -- Little less than 1/2 cup
Cinnamon -- 1 teaspoon
Assorted dried fruits
Ginger -- 1/2 teaspoon
Nutmeg -- 1/4 teaspoon

DIRECTION:
Heat the oven to 350º. Mix the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter in a 9 inch pie plate. Crumble the mixture with your fingers until the butter is evenly distributed and then gently press it around the bottom and up the sides of the pie plate. Bake for 5 minutes and let it cool down to room temperature.
Step-2. Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 15 minutes. Scoop it into a large mixing bowl and break the icecream bar apart with a spoon, then add the pumpkin, sugar and spices. Mash it well until all the ingredients get distributed evenly through the ice cream.
Step-3. Pour the pumpkin ice cream into the cooled crust, cover with plastic wrap and put it to freezer for 6-7 hours.
Step-4. Decorate the Pumpkin icecream with those dried fruits to give io a look of a colorful jack-o'-lantern face. Slice it and serve.

Hiya !! Here's another very interesting story that I got to know a couple of days back. Its all about the life after the death.

President John Adams and his wife Abigail Adams were the first persons to spend days in White House, although it itself was only half finished. The apartment was not adequately heated and most of the rooms were really damp and cold. Mrs. Adams decided to shift to the east room which was comparatively comfortable. And that is where the clothesline was strung ..... she became unforgettable.

The story says, her ghost is still seen hurrying towards the east room, with her stretched out arms as if she's carrying a few laundry on her arm. She is recognized by the cap and lace shawl that she always favored.

The story doesn't end here. It says that Abigail Adams is the "oldest" disembodied spirit, ever to have been loitered at the White House, but she's not the only occupant to occasionally wander the mansion's silent spacious halls and rooms.

So, now I would like to share with ya something that I got to learn just the last night. The Origin of Halloween. A long story .. really. Ever wondered when the Halloween's origin dates back to? To the ancient festival called Samhain -- a festivals of the Celts, who lived some 20 centuries ago in the area that is now in Ireland. The story says that they used to celebrate their New Year on 1st November.

This particular day beginning of the dark, cold winter of the year after the summer comes to an end. It was due to this cold nights and shortage of adequate food, that this period was often associated with deaths. Celts believed that it was on the night before their new year, that the bar between the worlds of the living and dead became blurred and hence on the night of October 31st, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the otherworldly spirits of the dead returned to the Earth. Well, with Halloween just around the corner, I would like to share my ideas of coming up with an unusual recipes for the kids. "Witch's Warts" is one of them. Yes, thats what I've named it. Sounds weird? That's because I have planned to make it Halloween special.

Anyway, all you would require to make Witch's Warts are:

One full pack of raisons
Half pack of white melting chocolate
Green Food coloring
Wax Paper

How To Prepare

Its easy. Just melt the white chocolate in a double boiler and add a few drops of food coloring and mix it well to bring a light green color. One by one dip each of the raisons into the liquid chocolate and place it on the wax paper to get it cool down.

Agreed that it would look really ugly, still I can say for sure that your little goblin guests will ask for more. Try out this Halloween recipe and strike your little guests with surprise this Halloween.

Halloween ...
When we talk about Halloween, we tend to talk about the event that is enjoyed by our little goblins by gathering lots of fruits, cookies , chocolates and dazzling fireworks.

I just want to say something about Halloween from a different perspective. This weekend was really wonderful. David rented the movie "Halloween" and we enjoyed it together. Sometimes referred to as John Carpenter's Halloween, it is an American independent horror movie that was set in the fictional midwestern town of Haddonfield on Halloween.

Although it is a movie that was first released in 1978, yet still it is quite enjoyable. Directed by John Carpenter Halloween had been a resounding success and I think that it is one of the perfect movies to watch on this Halloween.

Thought Of A Day That Still Haunts Me

Halloween is quite popular almost all around the globe -- especially in US, Canada, Puerto Rico, UK and Ireland. Celebrated on the night of October 31st, Halloween is said to have originated in Ireland. I really relish the fun of this lovely event where the kids dress up as ghouls, zombies, ghosts, goblins and witches and knock at the neighbors' doors to gather sweets, nuts and fruits.

I remember last year's incident. Mrs. Jones' kids had knocked our door at around 10:00 pm , when I was in the middle of a romantic story -- "Jane Eyre", one of my favorites. And I really forgot that it was Halloween as I was deep into the story. I opened the door and got so scared, with my heart rate rose up to find the little ghosts standing before me. I gave apples, cookies and chocolates to those little goblins.

The thought of the day still haunt me, but it was real funny moment.
